Why Visual Arts at KJS Brush & Canvass
At KJS Brush & Canvass, drawing, painting and visual arts are not treated as hobbies alone — they are powerful tools for developing observation, creativity, critical thinking, discipline and emotional intelligence.
From a child’s first pencil stroke to advanced senior portfolios, our structured programs guide students to express ideas visually, think independently and build confidence through consistent creative practice.
Students at KJS learn foundational drawing and painting techniques, colour theory, composition, visual storytelling and concept development — skills that directly support school visual arts assessments, portfolios and creative pathways.
Every year, KJS proudly hosts its Annual Art Exhibition, where students of all ages showcase their artworks in a professional exhibition setting. This experience builds pride, presentation skills and artistic confidence.
Selected artworks are recognised through competitions, awards and certificates, celebrating creativity, effort and artistic growth across children, teens, adults and seniors.
KJS supports students preparing for Operation Art, Duke of Edinburgh (Bronze, Silver & Gold), school competitions, Year 9–10 assessments, Pre-HSC and HSC Visual Arts.
Each student is guided according to their level, goals and academic stage, ensuring personalised and meaningful progress.
Whether a student pursues art academically, professionally, or as a lifelong passion, visual arts education at KJS builds patience, focus, self-expression and confidence — qualities that benefit learning, careers and personal wellbeing.
